I have been to a few of the “Painting and Wine” events in our area, so I automatically fancy myself an artist.
I have been wanting to take some canvas that I have and paint it though. I decided to do my own wall art for R’s room in pink (obviously).
I also did one in gray for a gift for someone. That someone will receive it soon 🙂
All you need for this one is a canvas (I used a 12×12), a colored acrylic paint (I used slate gray), white acrylic paint and a sponge brush.
Right now, this is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I am obsessed with making these.
Take your white paint on your brush and brush about 3 inches into the canvas.
Someone people start with color and add white, but I started with white and added color. I really can’t tell if one way is better than the other.
After you do each color, wrap the color around and do the sides as well.
Next, squirt white paint out onto your wax paper, cardboard, whatever you’re using to mix your paint. Add a little bit of your color.
Mix all that together and put some on your brush. Come over to your canvas and about an inch or inch and a half down from the top, start brushing this new gray color on. Once your brush starts to get empty of paint, bring it back over so your line in between the white and the new gray isn’t so harsh. I think this is called blending. 😉 See, I’m an expert.
It’s kind of hard to see, but I blended the 2 colors together. I did a blue one after this, and my first shade of blue was too blue, so I colored over the white and made that bluer, but whiter than my first shade of blue. Does that make sense? So there ended up being no white on the painting.
Add more of your color to your previous shade…
Add as little or as much as you’d like.
And then just keep blending!
So easy! I probably should’ve done this as a video tutorial. But that is waaaay out of my comfort zone…maybe someday 😉
